Full-stack engineer — backend, web front end, mobile app and deployment

The problem

A rental marketplace has two sides that want opposite things. Owners want listings up fast with minimum data entry; renters want enough detail and enough trust to commit money to a place they have not seen. The product has to serve both without making either fill in a form built for the other.

Approach

One backend and one API serve both the web application and the Android app, so a listing change shows up everywhere at once and there is a single place where booking rules live. The mobile app carries the renter experience, where most of the browsing happens; the web app carries listing management and the admin side.

What was built

  • Property listings with media, attributes and availability
  • Search and filtering by location, price and property attributes
  • Booking flow with enquiry, confirmation and status tracking
  • Payment gateway integration for deposits and rent
  • Owner dashboard for listings, enquiries and bookings
  • Companion Android application sharing the same API
